Revamped the existing website and website structure to increase user experience and access to information, accessibility, and plain language.
I worked as the web developer on the Policy, Administration, and Communications Team (PACT) for the VDH Office of Epidemiology . Our team included a graphic designer, plain language editor, social media creator, and language translators. We worked along side the the subject matter experts to make web content more accessible.
At the peak of COVID-19 the homepage was receiving million of webpage views. Yet the exisiting page provided only one color icons with no written content.
Issue: The original page provided little information and navigation to the inside page was difficult.
Solution: Turn the homepage into a landing page that provided the the most important and relevant information to the website visitor. Our team worked with the VDH call center to discover what questions they were receiving, what information was most important to the subject matter expert, and what information was timely and important.
